Elena Ivanova, AKA Hellie Flow

Introducing Elena Ivanova, also known as  Hellie Flow.

The Bio
My life revolves around working on always being the best version of myself I can be. I am extremely fit as a train and compete as an amateur boxer.

Prior to getting involved with boxing I used to do fitness training, focusing on free weights and cardio. Once I got involved with boxing, the weightlifting had to stop as it was making me too stiff and slow for the fast pace amateur fights.

The Training
This currently consists of 3-4 running sessions a week. One of them is a long slow controlled recovery run - 4-5 miles.
The rest are quite intense. I would either do 3 miles as fast as I can or interval running where I run at a steady pace for a few minutes and then sprint for one. I would repeat this until the end of my run (3 miles). It kills! On some days I only do sprints…

The rest of my training is my main boxing training which I do 3-4 times a week. Each session consists of skipping, shadow boxing, pads and bag workout and ends with a hardcore explosive circuit training.

The Diet
With all the training I obviously have to pay close attention to my diet, but this should be done by everyone in the world, regardless of whether they compete or not. Clean body, clean mind…

As boxing is a cardio vascular sport which requires a lot of energy, carbohydrates are a big part of my diet. Good carbohydrates obviously and none of the white flour junk people usually eat. Good carbs are brown pasta and rice, wholemeal bread, muesli, oats etc. I also make sure I eat plenty of vegetables, fruits and protein based foods. I give my body every single element of food as the body needs each and every one of them to function at its best. So if for any reason you are thinking about cutting out any of the elements of food from your diet in order to lose wight, know that this is very very wrong. A regulated eating regime, with the right size portions combined with regular exercise will ensure you look amazing. You can eat everything as long as it is natural, unrefined and fresh.

Green Tea and its #HealthBenefits

Green tea has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries to treat everything from headaches to depression.
The leaves are supposedly richer in antioxidants than other types of tea because of the way they are processed.

All types of tea (green, black and oolong) are produced from the Camellia sinensis plant using different methods. Fresh leaves from the plant are steamed to produce green tea, while the leaves of black tea and oolong involve fermentation.
Green tea is alleged to boost weight loss, reduce cholesterol, combat cardiovascular disease, and prevent cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
We've teamed up with the British Dietetic Association (BDA) to examine whether the myriad health claims about green tea are supported by the evidence.
Green tea contains B vitamins, folate (naturally occurring folic acid), manganese, potassium, magnesium, caffeine and other antioxidants (notably catechins)

The evidence

Cancer
There is no evidence that drinking green tea protects against different types of cancer. A good quality study from 2009 reviewed 51 studies involving more than 1.6 million participants. The studies looked for an association between drinking green tea and cancers of the bowel, prostate, breasts, mouth and lungs. The authors of the review concluded that the evidence of a link between green tea and cancer was weak and "highly contradictory".

Weight loss
It is thought that the antioxidants catechins and caffeine in green tea may have a role in helping the body burn more calories – sometimes referred to as speeding up the metabolism – which can help weight loss. Green tea preparations used for losing weight are extracts of green tea that contain a higher concentration of catechins and caffeine than the typical green tea beverage prepared from a tea bag and boiling water. A well-conducted review from 2012 of 18 studies involving 1,945 people found no significant effect of drinking green tea on weight loss.

Cholesterol
There is increasing evidence that both green and black tea are beneficial for cardiovascular disease prevention. A good quality review from 2013 of 11 studies involving 821 people found that daily consumption of green and black tea (as a drink or a capsule) could help lower cholesterol and blood pressure thanks to tea and its catechins. The authors of the review caution that most of the trials were short term and more good quality long-term trials are needed to back up their findings.

Another good quality review from 2011 found that drinking green tea enriched with catechins led to a small reduction in cholesterol, a main cause of heart disease and stroke. However, it's still not clear from the evidence how much green tea we'd need to drink to see a positive effect on our health, or what the long-term effects of green tea consumption are on our overall health.

Alzheimer's disease
Evidence of a positive link between drinking green tea and Alzheimer's disease is weak. A 2010 laboratory study using animal cells found that a green tea preparation rich in antioxidants protected against the nerve cell death associated with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Whether these lab results can be reproduced in human trials remains to be seen. As such, the findings do not conclusively show that green tea combats Alzheimer's disease.

The dietitian's verdict

Alison Hornby, a dietitian and BDA spokesperson, says the evidence about green tea's health benefits are inconclusive.
She says: "In the Far East, green tea has been used as a treatment for a variety of conditions ranging from arthritis to weight loss, as well as a preventative measure for diseases such as cancer, although the evidence for the majority of these conditions is weak or lacking.
"However, as a social drink, it appears to be safe in moderate amounts, so lovers of green tea can continue to enjoy it."

Green Tea Side Effects

  • Caffeine, which is part of green tea, has an insidious effect that is addictive.

Abuse of strong teas, including green tea, can lead to: insomnia, morning sickness, increased irritability, dizziness and heart palpitations.

  • Nursing mothers should be aware that caffeine, which is contained in all tea drinks, can cause insomnia in infants.
  • Excessive drinking of strong green tea can cause sleep disorders in adults.

How Much Green Tea Should You Drink?

Some studies recommend 2-3 teacups (not mugs) a day to be beneficial to health. However, consuming up to 5 teacups a day has been shown to lower stomach cancer risk. For weight loss, the best results have been revealed with drinking 7 cups a day. Drinking 10 cups is thought to be the upper limit.

Lowering Cholesterol with Aubergine ( Eggplant ) water

Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in the blood. Some cholesterol is necessary for good health, but too much cholesterol can result in serious health complications, including heart attack and stroke. According to "Mosby's Manual of Diagnostic and Laboratory Tests," a total cholesterol level of less than 200 mg/dL is ideal, 200 mg/dL to 239 mg/dL is regarded as borderline high and a level of greater than 240 mg/dL is defined as hypercholesterolemia and places you at increased risk of developing heart disease. When used daily for one month, eggplant water can reduce total cholesterol levels by up to 20 mg/dL, according to "Nutrition: Concepts and Controversies." Lowering high Cholesterol.

Managing your high cholesterol with eggplant water is not a substitute for medical care. Consult your physician prior to using eggplant water or any other home remedy to treat your high cholesterol.

Step 5
Drink 32 oz. of eggplant water daily for at least one month -- the minimum amount of time necessary to produce a reduction of total cholesterol levels with eggplant water, according to "Making Plant Medicine." Superfoods - Blueberries

Blueberries: Antioxidant superfood

Packed with antioxidants and phytoflavonoids, these berries are also high in potassium and vitamin C, making them the top choice of doctors and nutritionists. Not only may they help lower your risk of heart disease and cancer, they are also anti-inflammatory.

Inflammation is a key driver of all chronic diseases, so blueberries have a host of benefits. When selecting berries, note that the darker they are, the more antioxidants they have. Frozen fruits are just as good as fresh, experts say, but make sure you include lots of other fruit and vegetables in your diet as well.

What BCAA has to offer your body

Branched-chain amino acids - bcaa will build your strength, size, as well as help you with fat loss. Bodbybuilders who buy bcaa find that these supplements enhance muscle growth as well as contribute to a number of other benefits. Three aminos are found in bcaa These include leucine, isoleucine, and valine. These three amino acids contribute up to one-third of the total amino acids in the body's muscles.

When a person takes the amino acids, as aminos or as protein, they are on their way first traveling to the liver. Here they are broken down and used as fuel if the body needs them for energy rather than for building tissues and rebuilding muscle. The muscles can use bcaa s, opposed to other aminos that use them for fuel. They offer two different properties. The first, during workouts, the muscles use the aminos for fuel; during rest, after workouts, for example, they are used for muscle building. The supplements make pre and post-workout the critical time for consuming them. It is best to use the supplement immediately before a training session. This allows the muscle to use it as a direct source of energy. This will also increase a persons energy level.

A research conducted by the University of Texas Medical Branch learned that Leucine is the main key amino acid of the three in the supplement in regards to protein and synthesis is concerned. Leucine tends to instigate the process of muscle protein synthesis. It also helps to boost insulin levels. The supplement also enhances muscle growth by helping the growth of hormones. Italian researchers discovered that athletes taking the supplement for one month offered higher levels of growth hormone after exercise. GHBP is most important since it works as the carrier for GH in the blood. It takes it to the muscles in order for it to successfully complete its job of instigating muscle growth. Studies have also indicated that taking the supplement can prevent muscle loss at high altitudes while also offering a prolonged endurance performance in severe heat. Further, one study has determined that the supplement may improve exercise induced declines in different aspects of mental functioning.

The supplement also has positive effects on some medical conditions such as Lou Gehrig's disease. In one double-blind trial the supplement helped participants with the disease to maintain muscle strength. In a group of participants suffering from diseases of the nervous system (spinocerebellar degeneration) improved when given the supplement. The supplement has also proven beneficial in another medical condition. Another study determined that the supplement can benefit people with a condition called hepatic encephalopathy. This condition causes an excess level of some amino acids. Taking the supplement proved to help these patients to improve with their condition. People suffering from chronic kidney failure have also benefited from the supplement. People receiving the supplement have improved breathing and sleep quality.

Fat Burning For Beginners

If you're considering losing weight or just want to have a more cut and toned appearance, you have doubtlessly encountered many different tips and strategies for burning fat. However, crash diets and excessive exercise programs can not only undermine your progress towards a leaner appearance, but can also be very dangerous to your health. For the best possible fat burning results, you need to take an approach that will maintain or increase your muscle mass while still cutting calories.

The formula for losing weight is very simple; if you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose body weight. By doing no exercise at all and absolutely minimizing food intake, you can lose weight. However, you do not want to lose any and all body weight; you want to lose fat, not muscle or organ tissue! Not only will losing weight through starvation dieting make you look and feel worse, but it is ultimately a self-defeating process. This occurs because of how the body chooses the fuel to sustain itself. If insufficient food intake is available in the system to fuel the body, especially on a consistent basis, the body will respond as though it is starving. This is a survival mechanism which enabled people to survive in times of scarcity. In order to survive, the body responds by reducing its overall caloric needs. In other words, the body responds to too little calories by reducing the metabolism. It decreases the energy level, making you feel tired and making it difficult to exercise. Further, before it starts burning off its stores of fat, the body starts burning muscle, decreasing the calories burned even further. While this strategy is useful in times of famine, it is the opposite of what you want to occur if you wish to burn fat.

To burn fat, you need to decrease calories but also maintain your metabolism. This means that any diet plan you choose should not aim to drastically undercut the calories that your body needs. This is one of the reasons that many doctors and fitness experts recommend losing more than one or two pounds of body fat a week for maximum health.

To maintain or even increase your metabolism while dieting, there are several steps that you can take. There are a wide variety of fat loss supplements available on the market which largely serve to help increase the metabolism or otherwise to increase your energy. While many supplements can be used by anyone, some fat burners for men are now on the market, as well as specific supplements for women . When you are considering a supplement, it is helpful to know some of the ingredients that you may encounter. For example, one of the most common fat loss supplements is green tea or green tea extract. This is because green tea is a powerful antioxidant and boosts the body's metabolism. Other teas, such as wu long tea or rooibos tea, are also frequently included because of their antioxidant qualities and their fat-burning reputations.

Another frequent addition to fat burning supplements is caffeine. While most people use caffeine simply to feel more awake when they are tired, caffeine has been scientifically proven to help burn fat. Many athletes take substantial amounts of caffeine before workouts for the stimulant and fat-burning effects. Some scientific studies have even shown an enhanced effect on the metabolism if caffeine is combined with green tea.

You may also see guarana as an ingredient in fat loss supplements . Guarana comes from a shrub native to Brazil and contains significant amounts of caffeine, though any additional effects on metabolism are not yet well known. Kola seed extract is also included in some supplements and also contains caffeine. If you choose a supplement that contains caffeine, make sure that you increase your water intake, as caffeine is also known to have diuretic qualities that can dehydrate you. Due to the toxins that are released when burning fat, it is especially important to watch your water intake during a diet and exercise plan.

Another botanical ingredient that is found in fat burning supplements for women and men is cocoa seed extract. Cocoa seed extract contains theobromine, which is a stimulant that is similar to caffeine. However, the stimulant qualities of cocoa seed extract are not quite as potent as caffeine, making this supplement a particularly good choice if you have difficulty with caffeine jitters.

Whatever supplement you choose to help with your efforts to burn fat, keep in mind that you will experience the best results by carefully restricting calories and exercising appropriately. Strength training, such as weight lifting, and cardio workouts, such as running or aerobics, are both important components of a fat burning exercise program. Cardio workouts are important for the health of your hearth and circulatory system and also help burn significant amounts of calories. Your heart rate is generally increased for a period after your workout, during with your metabolism is increased and you burn more fat. Strength training, on the other hand, helps to build muscle mass. Many people, especially women, tend to underestimate the importance of strength training because they may not want to appear outwardly muscular. However, building muscle is one of the best ways to boost your body's metabolism. Not only do you burn calories during the workout, but your body continues to burn additional calories over the next 24 to 48 hours after a strength training workout, far longer than the similar effect from a cardio workout. In addition, by increasing the body's muscle mass, you increase your base metabolic rate even when resting. This means that it becomes easier for your body to burn calories and burn off fat. Strength training also helps you appear more cut and defined as you lose fat, and helps your body to exercise longer and with less potential for injury.

Exercise, diet, and supplements are all tools to help your body burn fat and improve your appearance. While you will not look different overnight, you can start to see results within weeks of starting your fat burning regimen.
